About

Spring Nicole

I was born and raised in New York. My early childhood years were spent in the historic and culturally rich village of Harlem and my teen years were spent in the beautiful Hudson Valley. I always knew I wanted to work as an artist and I also wanted to teach in some capacity.

I have exhibited in a group exhibition as well as a solo exhibition and have been rewarded a grant for a commission of a public artwork.

One of my greatest joys is helping other artists discover their voice. More than technique, I teach how to think like an artist and rediscover curiosity.

I choose acrylic paint as my primary medium because I like the sense of immediacy this medium tends to have. I love to work fairly quickly in a performative sort of fashion. Sometimes, I infuse paper and found objects. I also enjoy working with markers and pencils.

A theme that continues to come up in my artistic practice is exploration. I paint abstract as well as representational works. Mostly, I use portraiture as a conduit for expression and exploration.

I now reside in the Sandhills region of North Carolina with my husband and our two sons who are also artists.
